The Village of Worth Police Department will always be concerned with the well being of our children.
State law provides:
- Children being transported in a motor vehicle who are under the age of 8 years must be transported only in a child restraint system meeting the standards of the United States Department of Transportation.
- Children transported in a motor vehicle who are 8 years of age or more, must be secured in a certified child restraint system or a seat-belt.
- Passengers of 16 or 17 years of age must be restrained in a safety belt when the driver of the vehicle they are riding in is under 18 years of age.
Installation & Inspection
Proper installation of a child restraint seat is critical for protection in an accident. Installed child restraint seats should be inspected by certified technicians. Call to schedule your car seat inspection at 708-448-3979. Sgt. Travis Pirtle is the Program Coordinator. Lieutenant John Ramos, Sergeant Nick Boynton, Sergeant Mike Cozzi, Investigator Joel Frias, and Officer Christian Ferchau are Safety Seat Technicians.
Members of the Worth Police Department do stop and enforce child restraint systems as well as the regular use of seat-belts checks.
